{Kaelyn's Korner} Playdough Ornaments

If you're 15 months old like me, you're probably getting bored with your "baby" toys. It may be time to start crafting instead! Here's my first go at it, with a little help from mom.

Step 1: Make the play dough!

I found this recipe online:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup salt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 unsweetened packet of Kool-aid

Knead the dough. You might need to add more water, a little at a time, until you get the right consistency. I used about 1/2 cup total.

Step 2: Roll the dough

I probably rolled mine out to 1/4 inch thickness.

Step 3: Cut out your shapes!

ON A SAFE SURFACE (Mom's note... sucha buzz kill!) grab your cookie cutters and go to town!

Man, I'm good at this!

Once you cut out your shapes, move them onto a wax paper-ed cookie sheet.

Step... 4?(I'm 16 months old, people. Can't expect me to count this high!) Cut out holes

You'll feed ribbon through these holes later to hang the ornaments on your tree!

Mom used the cap to a pen to cut out holes. Just keep a toothpick handy to remove the dough from the cap!

Step-that-comes-after-4: Nap

My ornaments hung out in a 200 degree oven throughout my naptime (1hr +). Then let them cool, decorate, and hang them from your tree!
