{Kaelyn's Korner} Christmas Cookies

Christmas ROCKS. I don't remember much about last year's celebrations, but I've just about got this holiday figured out now. So for all you new babies, this is what I've gathered so far:

  • Moms and Dads get a KICK out of seeing you sit on some old guy's lap. Personally, I don't get it. But apparently he comes around later with all your favorite toys and treats, so that's pretty cool.
  • Grandparents are all about seeing you rip fancy paper off of boxes. It makes a huge mess, but they're cool with it anyway. Weird, right?
  • The supply of food is ENDLESS. Dad still looks OK, but mom's gut is getting out of control. Apparently nobody can bring themselves to say something, because she just keeps eating! She's particularly fond of the sweet variety - so last week we got together with our friends Lindsay and Will to make some Christmas Cookies. Mom swears they're for that old guy with the presents I was telling you about. Likely story, Ma. Likely story.

Anyhow - here's how the Christmas Cookie thing is done:

This red stuff? You dip your cookies in it. It's like Ketchup. But even more DELICIOUS.

What they call "Icing" comes in three colors: white, green, and red. I couldn't pick my favorite... so I went ahead and had equal amounts of each.

"Snow" isn't quite as sweet, but it's just as messy. Sprinkling it everywhere was Will's favorite part!

Caution: You must be super cute for your Momma to let you drop flour right on the floor like this. Good thing Will's so dreamy! :)

At some point, you will run out of icing. It's devastating.

...but all that sugar should kick by then, so you'll bounce right back.

Make sure to bring a spare outfit for the sugar-high playtime to follow. Will and I got our energy out over a jam session. (I know, right?? He's a MUSICIAN too. Back off ladies, this one's mine.)

All in all it's a really fun tradition I hope we repeat every year! Thanks for having us over, Lindsay! And Will - ...call me ;)
