October needs a new name. "Rain"tober perhaps? (I'm sure if my momma-of-2-2-and-under status yielded any sleep, I could come up with something more creative than that, but alas.. that's the best I've got.) I don't know that I've ever seen a season with SO.MUCH.RAIN. Day after day of wet yickiness passed, and Suzanne and I crossed our fingers and plead with the clouds to hold off for our family session. See, we'd had this family session on the books for MONTHS, and knew we only had the one shot at these photos.
Suzanne & Co. hail from the Shenandoah Valley. They made the multi-hour drive to Richmond to visit family and made room for a family session with me on their visit! (Can I just tell you how flattering that is, by the way??) When the rain insisted on joining us, too, I knew we had to move inside.
Thankfully - this is Richmond we're talking about. And BEAUTIFUL indoor places like VMFA offer a perfect alternative!
I'm so glad we could push on with our session as planned. It was such a pleasure meeting this family, and photographing the personality and expression that simply radiates from each one of their boys (big bro Samuel, and twin toddlers Luke and Peter). I spent hours of editing grinning right back at them, and can't wait for all of you to do the same.... NOW!
I LOVE that Suzanne prioritized candid photos in her family's session. Her boys are the perfect age to capture their truest selves at play!
