{Session Planning} Playing Your Role

All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players

So, since your photo session "setting" is a story-telling tool,  what does that make you, the client? YUP. You're my characters!

"Oh boy.."

Oh come now! This is the fun part!

The only way I'm going to get "authentic" photos of you, is if you're being yourself. And the only way we're going to make these authentic photos interesting and "dynamic", is if you're being yourself... only... exaggerated.

It's up to you to embrace this "role." So let's define it!

Some people just know. Elizabeth (above) is the queen of her household. It's a role she rocks, and it's a part of her character that her friends and family can't help but love!

Did you catch that?? No? Let me grab my highlighter (or, you know, my bold-tool) and share again:

...it's part of her character that her friends and family can't help but love!

If you need to know what your "role" is, ask your friends and family to help define you. Are you a dreamer? level headed? serious? silly? daring? careful? protective? loyal? Pick a few key characteristics that truly resonate with you, and prepare to ham it up!

In most cases, I have an hour to get to know you. Part of my job is to peel back the layers, but your knowing that ahead of time and choosing to be vulnerable and honest during our session will really maximize our time together.

Have fun with it! It's a painless process, I promise :)
