1. What exactly is "Lifestyle photography"?
To me, lifestyle photography means photography that captures precious moments in life. Individuals, couples, maternity, newborn, family, and the special occasions that arise in between: engagements, anniversaries, births, birthdays, reunions and more! If it's special to you, it's special to me.

2. Why do you host your sessions exclusively outdoors?
The type of photography I do is called "natural-light". This means my "studio" is wherever the sun shines! Light from the sun is soft and flattering, which is crucial to producing the images you'll love forever. Very few exceptions apply, and most come at an additional fee the venue charges.

3. So we can take pictures ANYWHERE outside?
Almost! I've done sessions at a variety of settings: from waterfront and historical properties, to farms and public parks all over RVA. Private venues - like botanical gardens, private parks, and country clubs, for instance - often charge a photography fee and limited appointment windows.

4. Where are your favorite locations to shoot?
I am fully committed to finding locations that compliment your family. I love Belle Isle for outdoorsy types, Canal Walk for the sophisticated bunch, downtown for trendy hipsters, Crump Park for country critters, and so so much more. The best locations are the ones with meaning. So as long as there are no photography restrictions, I'll meet you anywhere your heart desires. (Well, within 30 miles of Richmond. But I'd love to meet you in New York or Paris if you're offering! ;) )

5. I'm so excited for our session! What should we wear?
I recommend families “coordinate” instead of “match”. Each person ‘s outfit should reflect his or her personality. Every one looks their best when they feel their best! To coordinate, try picking a few common neutral colors (tans, jeans, whites, blacks) and pairing them with a "pop" of color.

6. Why do you require a deposit to book my session?
My decision to stay at home with my children during the week limits my photography time to weekends-only most of the year. The few sessions I offer each week fill up fast, and each makes up a significant portion of my weekly pay. When you book a session, I count on the service I am committing to you. Deposits are non-refundable, no exceptions. They may, however, be applied to future sessions at my discretion.

7. Forecast doesn't look good - what happens if the weather doesn't cooperate?
I've lived in the Richmond area long enough to know one thing for certain: the weather here is totally unpredictable. If its wet or unsafe, we'll reschedule. Safety is my primary concern!
BUT: 40 degrees in the Winter is par for the course. As is 100+ in the Summer. When you schedule a session, be prepared to dress seasonably.

8. I've had my session - now what?
In most cases, I post a teaser same-day, a full blog post within a week, and a CD of all images within 10-14 days. Delays may occur (specifically regarding the blog post) following fully booked weekends. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have question regarding your post-session timeline.

9. Do you photograph weddings?
Weddings are not the focus of my business, and I claim no expertise in photographing them. Can I and will I photograph them? Of course. My aim is to be a photographer that grows with your family, and weddings are of course a part of that.
